Hallelujah. Dawn is breaking over the North-East of England as revivalists converge on the city of Newcastle in its darkest hour. A crescendo of angelic voices cry ‘Holy, holy, holy to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords’ as we await the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ the Son of God into His church to assume His rightful place as Master of the house and Ruler of His people.
I appeal to all Christians to pray for Pakistan in this hour of grief and turmoil and great danger. The possession of nuclear weapons makes it a target for a takeover by Islamic fundamentalists who seek to destroy Israel and the danger is real and imminent if there is no truce between the warring parties and no cessation of hostilities between sects and clans. Buttho represented a message of goodwill and peace and her loss brings a bleakness and hopelessness which will result in violence if God does not pour out His grace and mercy upon the nation. Pray for the message of the gospel to be proclaimed in power and with authority in Jesus Name. Amen.
The 46th psalm speaks to our condition in the 21st century. We are very dry in the church and need revival like never before, but there is little prayer and little faith left for God to move again in power in our land.
The apostle Paul tells King Agrippa (Acts 26) of his conversion and of his ministry to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the king declares himself ‘almost persuaded’ to become a Christian. However sound our arguments and powerful our testimony it is only God who can save. This is a matter of God’s election for sure but also of our choice and of the prayers of the saints, who are commanded to pray for all men – for God desires all men to be saved.
The Pope said that ‘the final word’ on the biblical concept of God is that the logos is God. But he failed to remind his hearers that the logos became flesh and dwelt among us. God is love and He manifested His love among us by sending Jesus Christ into the world, to lay down His life that we might live.
God is not abstract nor a concept created by our minds. God is love, He emptied Himself and took the form of a servant, He revealed Himself as a man the LORD Jesus Christ. We love Him and give Him honour and glory because He first loved us. The Greeks knew nothing of this until Paul answered the call of the man from Macedonia who pleaded ‘help us’.
This weblog is dedicated to the honour and glory of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. He is able to make it more than I can achieve by my efforts, and my prayer is that by His Spirit He will bring forth prayer and supplication and repentance and worship and divine utterance and healing and prophecy and exhortation and fellowship in His Spirit. The gospel of Jesus Christ must be preached to the ends of the earth and then the end will come. Continue reading Holy is the Lord
